Traditional architectural drafting course

The bulk of our clients are involved in architecture. construction, facilities, events or other building related disciplines and over the past five years of offering CAD courses, we’ve noticed that quite a high proportion of our clients are unschooled in proper architectural drafting. We’ve also turned away a number of people who have been keen to learn CAD but have had no prior drafting training. As a result we are looking to start hosting group courses in traditional architectural hand drafting with the objective of laying a foundation for those who then would like to progress onto CAD at some stage.

The courses will be two days long, have a maximum of 5 people per course and are planned to start in Richmond, London in July 2008. We’d like to get as much feedback as possible to gauge interest and to find out about your specific requirements so if you might be interested, please email Mark Shepherd to let us know.

The course schedule will include the following topics:

  • Titleblocks and paper size conventions
  • Orthographic projection basics
  • Floor plan basics including scales
  • Materials & hatch patterns
  • Doors & windows
  • Stairs
  • Text, arrows & symbols
  • Lineweights & linetypes
  • Dimensioning
  • Electrics
  • Plumbing & drainage
  • Ergonomics & space planning

Cost: £250 for the course

Duration: 2 days

No. per course: 5 people max.

Location: Richmond, Surrey, TW10
